We all know trash cans can be some of the most unhygienic areas of the house. If your bin is particularly dirty, bleach is your best friend. Take the can outside and first flush it with water. Next, throw in a 5L bucket filled with a solution of 250ml bleach, a few drops of dishwashing liquid and warm water. Wearing gloves, use a long-stemmed brush to scrub the bottom and sides of your can. Empty it into the drain, rinse with water again, and allow to air-dry. Pro tip: once dried, line the bin with old newspapers so any liquids seeping out of your garbage bag will be absorbed. This makes cleaning the bin a lot easier!
